Since 2006, the KL Felicitas Foundation has allocated an increasing portion of its portfolio to impact investments. By the end of 2014, over 99% of the entire portfolio was dedicated to impact investments.
The charts at right illustrate the growth of impact investments from 2006 to 2017.
Prior to implementing its impact investing strategy in 2006, the Foundation placed approximately a third of its assets in socially responsible investments (SRI) with the balance in traditional investments. In 2006, the Foundation adopted an innovative investment strategy and began placing assets into Thematic, Sustainable and Impact-First Investments.
Based on the success of these investments, the Foundation placed its first Corpus Impact First Investment (CIF), in Q3 2010. This investment is a PRI that is a part of the Foundation’s corpus, rather than a part of its annual 5% payout. KLF now has three Corpus Impact First Investments, all originating from the Foundation’s corpus.
